  • It is becoming more prevalent and stereotyped and this is making the 'true' skaters become more defensive of their tribe

Hardcores

  • Into punk and the straight edge scene

  • Hardcores joins the tribe in 2012

  • Lots of slam dancing and Straight Edge ethics

  • Hipster-esque  look

Hardcore Gamers

  • Competitive and highly political

  • Moved from real to hardcore gamers in 2015

  • Majority of younger people play computer games but the hardcore gamers are the ones that really contribute to the gaming culture

  • There is also a rise in D&D and other tabletop games

Superfans

  • Most active in the Geek community

  • They are twitteratis, fan fiction writers, tumblr managers and thousands of other groups who geek out online and actively follow their passions 

Metallers

  • Left the tribe in 2012 but came but came back in 2015v, especially in cities like Birmingham

  • They enjoy head banging, band t-shirts and loud music but are very different than the Hardcores

  • Normalise tattoos and diversify music taste across the UK

Punks

  • It is making a big comeback

  • More diverse and interconnected

  • One of the longest standing tribes

  • More sanitised subculture than the older punks

  • Lots of music, politics and fashion

Niche Alts

  • Sea punks, hackers and ghetto goths

Young Alts

  • 'Want out' of the main stream

  • They are experimental

  • Range from alternative, grunge, hardcore and more

  • A long standing tribe

  • Look alternative, listen to alternative music, have alternative views and are mainstream in every other sense

Geeks

  • A huge tribe

  • It is becoming increasingly cool and and normal

  • Left in 2012  but are rejoining as misfits and nerds

  • Everyone is geeky even just a little bit

Cosplayers

  • Geeky, Japanese-obsessed tribe

  • Passion for gaming, anime, manga and role playThey have been around for decades

  • Cosplayers are becoming more evident due to a strong online community, several types of cons and online forums
